Oh my.. once in a while I come across items in my vast amounts of vintage stock that still make me dizzy.
It does not matter how long I have seen these or how long I have been dealing with beautiful objects, these still do it for me and are just as breathtaking as the first time I saw them all those years ago.
They come in different sizes. Were made in Czechoslovakia in the 1920s and I am sure you will agree are stunnnnning.
The flecks of gold are real as is the weight of the glass ball itself.
All are real little beauties in their own right... as I always say its all in the small detail ... can you imagine having these sewn onto a white plain shirt ?

Recently,I decided to clear out some shelves in order to make some holding space.
I need the space for a whole lot of new vintage items that I am bringing in from my warehouse in order to create a new website .
Where? What? When?
I am putting together a sister site to Accessories of Old...I am so very excited about this and not only will it have all our gorgeous vintage goodies but some giftware too chosen by yours truly.
( to be launched soon and I will most certainly keep you all posted.)
Now I know that the thought of clearing out shelves to anyone is a horrendous one to say the least and given the choice most would rather drink poison! Saying this however it is therapeutic in its own way and we most times land up finding treasures that have long been forgotten.
I, for example came across this rather beautiful Vintage Royal Albert tea set my late grandmother had passed down to me. It is so beautiful and what a waste sitting in darkness for all this time only with the pleasure of perhaps a visit from a spider or two.. In fact the last time I had used this set was at my daughters naming tea eight years ago!!
Not only are all the tea cups and saucers intact but so is the milk jug, sugar bowl and pastry plates.
What a beautiful set too and so unusual to find a complete tea set. Gorgeous lipstick red with bright white polka dots edged with gold trim.
Now, I know we all have items that we have stashed away for "that one day". And instead of using our lovely items we have hidden we use ordinary others to take their place waiting or the special occassion to use what is truly beautiful. Its the ordinary that should be hidden and the stashed used.
I myself am guilty of this... eight years proves it.
Why am I blogging about this you may ask? Answer is because it made me stop and think.
I know we all have gorgeous things that we hoard away waiting for the right time and place but what about now?
So what have I done? I have given up that old mug and swopped it for bone china... it out of its hiding place, clean and I have even had my first cup of tea in it ... and felt like Royalty doing it ! ( even if I was sitting in my pajamas)
So, go on ladies( or gents )throw away those chipped or old tea mugs - stop hoarding your good things and use them .
NOW is the right time to use your best items and surround yourself with what is beautiful for everyday use...it makes one feel good and offers everyday eye candy to the weary eye.
It truly is one of the most diverse cities in the world. A place where you can simply be yourself, wear what you want and just be. A total melting pot of different cultures, fashions and individual styles.
A feast of color and objects to keep one interested and wanting to come back for more.
One of my favorite destinations to visit in London is Portobello Green Market.
For all my blog followers in London, or those that are lucky enough to be visiting London this weekend, I have some really exciting news...
This Friday March 15th we will be in Portobello Green Market!!! Oh yes dont bother fetching your glasses..you read right.. Accessories of Old is coming to you.
We will have a stand in Portobello Road Market and we are selling our goods.
What does this mean?
No shipping and no gawking at a picture of something you are dying to touch but cannot.
Now ,If you are anything like I am which is a tactile being you like to touch and feel the object you are buying (as most vintage buyers do) instead of just seeing image online ..well now you can..... So make your way down (or up) to the market and prepare for the ultimate visual feast.
For all those that have not been before easiest way is to get off at Ladbroke Grove Tube station... Portobello Green Market is just a stone throw away.
The market is under cover and is located between Portobello and Ladbroke Grove.
Opens 7am.
If you are desperate to find us and cannot for some reason call up Danny who is the fair contact and he will be able to direct you . His number is 07967 198 985.
Now last but certainly not least for all of you who is looking for eye candy and not just in the sense of a vintage sparkly brooch.. we have Ali who is going to be running our stand and is in charge of Accessories of Old .
Ali the poster boy of Accessories of Old.
We look forward to seeing you there.
Have fun. Touch as much as you want (the jewellery that is :)) and hopefully you will all leave with a sparkly vintage treasure to take home.
Whilst going through some boxes as I do, I came across these darling little embellished Easter bottles.
I had bought these in NY from Bethany Lowe ,had used them for a Easter display in our store and stashed them away.
So you can imagine how excited I was to see them again... I so love the detail in the embellishment
I thought that I would share the joy and you too could be the owner of one of these little beauties by showing us your Easter ideas .. and whoever came up with the sweetest and simpliest idea in our panel of Accessories of Old judges would be the new owner of one of these glass bottles.
All you have to do is get hold of me on our Facebook page and send in your image...
