A pink tutu party - Happy birthday Sophia

We often have birthday parties for all age groups at our shop. Today we celebrated Sophia's 5th birthday with all her friends. There is something about little girls together.. one thing they all have in common ..a love for anything pink and pretty.

So today we embellished tutu's. What fun it was and the great part that each and every little princess got to take her tutu home with her to dress up anytime she wants together with a little hairband to embellish at home.

 

 

Sophia already is perfecting her artistic flair...

 

Talking about artistic flair look at this stunning cake her mom Erin made .. I love anything with polka dots and this certainly took the cake ( excuse the pun!)

A hand painted egg with a difference..

Today I received a box of some really lovely goodies that I had ordered for the shop... the box and all the goodies inside come from Austria 

 Inside are some eggs with a difference...

 

 

These eggs are one of a kind as they are all HAND PAINTED... check it out.Yes.. they are real eggs.

 I came across the company and seriously had to stop myself ordering a dozen in each design they are all so absolutely beautiful.

 

Each one comes attached to its own ribbon.

 

I love these hand painted sheep ( yes its been a sheep week for me!!)

 

 

And then there are the painted lace which just blew my socks off !!!

and then last but certainly not least the painted lavender and glitter eggs...

 

 

 

I first bought these for my Easter display but honestly they are so precious that one could really display them all year round...

Little sheep ..part 2

Well, after posting my last blog about the sheep I decided to try and do something fun myself.. this is what I came up with.

I got some vintage flatback crystal and hot glued them all over the sheep. For the brown one I made a sweet little bow and the white one I got some silver threaded trim and made her a new set of ears!

 

 

I then placed them in a meadow of green sequin..

 

                                      

And together with some paper trees  and a glass dome thought they made a very cute display.. even if I say so myself!

Little sheep- give it your best creative shot...

I ordered some cute little wooly sheep that arrived this morning in a box... what fun. I cannot wait to do something with them. Any ideas before I start??

I saw these sheep in NY at a show and ordered a few for the shop. I actually thought of my dear friend Jessica when I bought them as she loves sheep... this ones for you Jessxxx hope you are feeling better.

 

 

 

 

 

 

So I was thinking while writing this blog about doing something fun and creative and here is what I have come up with...

Whoever can come up with the most original creative idea of what to do with these little wooly sheep will get two little beauties sent to them. This person will then create what they spoke of and take a picture of the end result for me to put up on my blog... wanna try?? ..come on lets have some creative fun....give it your best shot!

Turning a paper bag into a unusual gift bag

  I love these paper brown bags as they are really versatile and can beembellished in so many different ways. One of the ways I thought would be unique  was by using some vintage eyelet lace, velvet ribbon and a buckle...

                                 

With a glue gun ready and heated I took some vintage eyelet lace and measured it to the width of the bag to make a few layers...

 

 

To finish it off I took some velvet and together with a buckle made a belt.

 

 

I wanted it to have the look of a skirt with a belt.

 

In the top of the bag I took some lace and embellished it with some swarovski crystals.

                                     

You can do it without all the frills too which is another option.. take a look

 

Same idea take a piece of velvet and find a buckle that is the same width to thread the velvet through.. glue it down with a hot glue gun.

 

On the top of the bag find a button that matches the color of the velvet you have chosen.

 

I made a little bow out of narrow velvet to put on the button which gives it a little more character.

 

On the buckle I finished it off with a little millinery flower that I cut the stem off and glued straight on to the velvet.

                                      

So, next time you do not want to splurge on a fancy gift bag remember to pull out all your sewing kit and together with all your odds and ends you can put a very unique gift bag together... and if you do not have any odds and ends floating around just go to my website and you will find all the embellishments you need.

 

Emma Cassi

 I first heard about Emma Cassi from a lovely lady who is a regular customer at our shop. She was and still is  totally smitten with her works and after looking her up and seeing her creations I can see why...  I too am smitten.

Emma Cassi for those who are unfamiliar is a French designer who uses vintage lace in her accessories . Not only does she design jewellery but she is a stylist and has the most wonderful refreshing and unique style using.

Check her out. I promise you will come away totally inspired. Her creations are  100 % pure eye candy.

A quick five minute crafting project.

Here is a five minute craft project that I came up with that anyone can do.

The most versatile object to revamp a million ways is a good old fashioned clothes peg.. amazing what the little brown pieces of wood can be turned into. Take a look.

 

Armed with a glue gun cut a piece of velvet onto both side of the peg. ( can be decorative paper if you do not have fabric/ velvet)

 

Gather some embellishments ( in my case I have some great sequin in different shapes)

 

Organise them in the pattern you want and glue them onto the peg.

You can sick a magnet on one side of the peg and use it as a magnet or otherwise embellish both sides.

 

A really simple and cute craft project to do with the kids on a cold winters day.

                                   

Hand stamped eyelet lace

I often think of different ways to present some of the items we have. I really love the eyelet lace and so when a friend had a birthday I decided to purchase some fabric ink and stamp the eyelet lace to wrap the gift with.

 

  

 

 

I was so happy with the result that I added some of it to our scrapbooking kits we sell... take a look.

 

 

It is really easy to do just make sure you work on a flat surface and buy a ink that will not bleed into the fabric.

Long stemmed vintage millinery flowers

With the grey weather outside I needed some fresh colors and forms to inspire and surround myself with.. So I  took out the box of millinery flowers that I had blogged about before. I had not had the time to go through all the lovelies and so pulled out these beauties. Check them out long stemmed millinery flowers all made in England in the 1940's. This morning I was on a mission and so armed with my camera not only did I picture,crop and resize them but managed to load most of them onto my website.  I love these with their long stems. Most of them have a  15 inch long stem. Just crazy for them which I am sure you will  be to ..so hang onto your curls and get ready with the brown paper bags for any signs of hyperventilation!!!.. here goes..

Oh how precious!

I have a card ( yes only one card ) of four of the most precious vintage off white millinery flowers that have little brooches on the back of each one.

 

 

 

The fabric of the leaves is a organza which has a little lace border ..just too precious don't you think?

With the economy the way it is one needs a precious litte pick me upper to focus on and this one is my very own pick me upper for today..xxx  I have pinned it to my cushion next to the desk and once in a while get lost in its beauty..

A Valentine Bird in a box

I love these little birds that I bought from the local craft store. They are really so easy to work with and can be used in so many craft  projects.

I found these little boxes and thought to do something together with the bird... this is what I came up with.

 

 

I found these boxes in the wedding section of Michaels craft store. They are really cute once they have been folded.

 

I embellished the love dove with some tiny vintage mother of pearl buttons .

 

I added a little bow made out of ribbon and together with the pink trim embellished the top of the box.

 

On top of the box I added some trim and a button to finish it off...

 

I then put a little gift into the box and then placed the love dove into the box ..

 

 

 

I then finished it off with a piece of matching vintage ribbon making a bow on the top of the box..

 

Voila ! A nice little  box nest for in valentine bird xx

 

Would this not be a cute way to propose?? a great place to hide a ring!!!

Valentine felt bags

I am getting the shop prepared for Valentines Day and wanted to share all these cute little felt bags I have  for the day of LOVE... I thought these would be really sweet for all the little ones who needed a bag to hold that one special  hand made item that they made at school just for their mom.Wouldn't this be a really cute keepsake bag?..

 

 

 

 

As pretty as a pink rose

 When it comes to Valentine's Day I always think of the color pink... I know red is featured too but for me pink is love,admiration,caring,feminine and just plain old pretty. I just got a bunch of the cutest vintage style tissue paper garlands from Bethany Lowe  in for the store.  So,when I unpacked them all I put some together with some other vintage trims and flowers in order to put a vintage kit together..take a look just how pretty..
